<sdsExtDescription>The area must be: located on Corps-owned fee lands; be managed by a single managing agency; fulfill the requirements identified in one of the recreation PSA subtypes; have man-made recreation, educational, or sightseeing facilities; receive regular maintenance and services by the managing agency at a level required to ensure the health and safety of visitors; be formally identified as a recreation area either in the Master Plan, Operational Management Plan, project/lake brochure, or other Corps of Engineers public information identifying the project.</sdsExtDescription>
<sdsExtNote>This feature type concept differs from that of the 3.1 feature type named RecreationArea. The 4.0 feature type should be used to represent the boundaries of the overall Recreation Area, not areas corresponding to a particular recreational use type or feature within the overall Recreation Area. Features may include either formally delineated recreation areas (e.g., those of USACE), or those that are not formally delineated (e.g., those of Navy). To determine the boundary, should use documents if available. These might include the project master plan, real estate document (especially in the case of outgranted recreation areas) or recreation map. If using master plan, the recreation boundary may be something less than the area designated for high or low use recreation. If documentation does not clearly identify the recreation area boundary, use imagry to determine the developed area, including trails. This should be verifyed by project staff, specifically the Park manager or lead Park ranger if possible. Permanently closed parks should not be included. Wildlife management areas are not considered recreation areas.</sdsExtNote>
